FSSAI REGISTRATION

The FSSAI stands for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. It’s a statutory body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Their main responsibility is to ensure the safety and quality of food products available in India. Below are the key functions:

  • Setting Standards: The FSSAI establishes science-based standards for food items. This ensures things like hygiene, quality, and safety throughout the food chain, from manufacturing to consumption.
  • Regulation: They regulate the entire food industry, covering activities like manufacturing, storage, distribution, sale, and import of food products. This involves issuing licenses and registrations to food businesses.
  • Enforcement: The FSSAI enforces the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. This includes conducting inspections, taking samples, and taking action against businesses violating food safety regulations.
  • Promoting Awareness: The FSSAI works to raise awareness about food safety among consumers and food businesses. They also launch initiatives like ‘Eat Right Campus’ to promote safe and healthy eating habits.

In short, the FSSAI plays a crucial role in ensuring that the food you consume in India is safe and meets the required quality standards.
